Oftentimes my habit upon entering my room is to turn on the computer, blog-browse, sign onto YM, and, if there's no one there, I stick on an Away Message and go about my business, whether it be a nap or (God forbid) homework. Predominantly, it's reading a book. Right now, that book is House of Leaves. And while I read, I tend to keep checking the screen to see if anyone's signed on, sent me a message, etc. (With YM's last version, I could have it play a sound whenever someone starts a conversation, but with the revised edition I can't do that without a sound playing every time a message is sent. And that's annoying.) Today, after resurrecting my computer and then abandoning it for dark hallways, I returned to do a little research on Z's sister, Poe. Every few seconds, I'd look over my shoulder at the book, then return to the laptop. I finally realized what I was doing. I was checking my book to see if anyone had left me a message. In other news, Hurrah.
